Joe Hillyard – trombone

Dr. Joseph Hillyard grew up near Liverpool, England, where he played principal trombone in the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra throughout his school years. He won the gold medal in the Concerto Class at the Liverpool Festival of Music and Drama. He continued his music studies at Cardiff University in Wales, earning his Bachelor’s in Music, Master of Music, and Ph.D. in Composition, receiving the rank of Distinction. He studied with Dr. Robert Fokkens and Dr. Arlene Sierra and has worked with Immix Ensemble, the artist Ifor Davies, and photographer Frances Seward. Joe also manages Mountain Top’s Majestic Café, and enjoys following cricket and soccer.
